Life has a way of not slowing down these days. Our family has been busy bees these past weeks and I have barely had a moment to myself let alone time to blog. So now that my work is done for the day and Ryder is content, I will play catch up. As I tried to write this yesterday, Ryder wanted to play and I had some last minute things to do at work. So I'm trying this blog again today even though Ryder is a bit grumpy.
First and foremost, Ryder is 5 months old. I can't believe how quickly his is growing and how much he changes day to day. He loves his feet! We try to keep him out of socks to enjoy his feet. He has really become a clown, he loves to make us laugh and cracks up with us. He has just started to sit up on his own which is very cool to see. He does take tumbles. He still is not sleeping through the night, but I've gotten used to it for the most part. He has also started to grab for things. I am constantly keeping things away from him, which is quite a task at times. Ryder has wonderful conversations with himself. We always wonder if he knows what he is saying...when he watches videos of himself talking he talks right back which leads me to believe he totally understands. He can't get enough of himself in the mirror...he'll make a silly sound and then crack up. We sure do love this kid!
We went to south Florida for the New Years to visit family and introduce most of Kyle's family to Ryder. Ryder loved playing with Jordan, Cole and Ryan. We spent most of time visiting with family and friends. I was so thankful that Kyle was able to sneak in a bike ride at Markham park (he was super stoked about that). Kyle, Ryder and I were able to go to Ft Lauderdale beach on New Year's Day; it was so pretty and the weather was great...the rest of the stay the weather was a wee bit cold. It was so much fun being able to celebrate Karen and George's birthday with everyone. We wish we could have spent more time there and already miss everyone there. Because it was our first big trip with Ryder, we were very nervous about flying with him, but he was such a champ. We had a direct flight to Ft Lauderdale but on the way home had 4 flights...Ft Lauderdale to Jacksonville, Jacksonville to Tampa, Tampa to Austin and finally Austin to Houston. Ryder never cried once and we were very thankful for that.

This past weekend Kyle, my mom and I all participated in the Houston Half Marathon. I was VERY nervous about 2 things, one leaving Ryder for 7 hours with my dad (not that I didn't trust dad but I had never left him alone that long) and two 13.1 MILES! I was a lot more fun than I thought, it was pretty tough but still fun. Next year mom and I will train for it! Kyle finished in just under 2 1/2 hours and mom and I finished in 3 hrs 21 min. Poor Kyle has some major issues with his knees and has been on crutches for the past few days. He was able to go to the doctor for help. He's doing better but he has a condition called runner's knee.
Here's to an amazing 2010!
