stupid scales...

I've been a bit blah about my weight gain...I've put on 16lbs and I'm not even halfway through the pregnancy. I wish whoever came up with the 25-35lbs healthy weight gain rule of thumb would say how wrong he was...I know it was a he who came up with it because a woman would never put those limits on another woman, especially while she's pregnant.

But after talking to many people about how much weight they gained through their pregnancy even with eating right, I'm comforted. It's just so strange to eat right and work out but still gain a pound or so a week. BUT that's what I should be doing so it's a great thing. I just read this I should print it out and keep it on me at all times :

"Rule of thumb: More important than what a scale shows, if you are feeling healthy, looking healthy, and your baby is growing, you are likely to be gaining the right weight for you. If you are eating the right foods, you really don't need to think about your weight"

These feeling were all brought on by this particular event...I went into my closet yesterday and found my cute skirt that is normally so big it slides off my hips and although it still fits now there's not a chance it could be be slid off the hips...not even close. Not to mention the maternity dresses I bought for weddings at the beginning of April fit me like a tent. So I'm defiantly in between...not a fun place to be.

Ok vent over (for now).

Sarah, I gained 45, count 'em, 45 pounds with my pregnancy!!! Of course, I was NOT working out like you are, so that didn't help. But, I'm happy to say that at my 4 week postpartum check-up I had already lost 30 of it, and lost the rest slowly thereafter. Breastfeeding helped tremendously, even though I was still ALWAYS hungry, and even thirstier than when pregnant. Go figure? Everyone's different, but just didn't want you to worry too much about the weight. It will go away! :) Hang in there--summer heat's a comin'!
